Prof. Charlotte Hanlon lives and works in Ethiopia. She is Chair of Global Mental Health Division of Psychiatry, Institute for Neuroscience & Cardiovascular Research, University of Edinburgh, UK & Dept of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. The main focus of Prof Hanlon’s work is on developing, testing and implementing interventions that seek to improve the lives of people with mental health conditions in low- and middle-income countries. Prof. Hanlon led the first service trial in a low-income African country for people with severe mental health conditions, showing that primary care workers could deliver mental health care as safely and effectively as mental health professionals.
